This Privacy Policy describes how Dextera Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Dextera Labs,” “we,” or “us”), handles information when you install and use Dextera Launcher (“Dextera,” or “the App”) on your Android device.
Dextera does not request the Android SMS or Call Log permission groups (READ_SMS, call log, etc.).
Dextera is designed as a device-local home screen launcher. Most features run on your phone. We do not operate a Dextera user account system, and we do not sell personal information.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Dextera Launcher Android application and related in-app settings. It does not control third-party apps you open from Dextera, websites opened from search, or system services provided by Google, Microsoft (Bing), weather providers, or your device manufacturer.

3. Information the App may access or process
Dextera only uses permissions and data needed for features you enable. Access is typically granted by you in Android Settings or during onboarding.
3.1 On-device information (processed locally)
Depending on permissions and settings, Dextera may process:
- Installed applications — labels, package names, icons, and launch intents for the app list, search, recents, and widgets
- Contacts — names, phone numbers, and photos (if available) for the Contacts page, search, call/message actions, and pinning
- Notifications — content delivered through Android’s notification listener (titles, text, app identity, actions) for the notification center, badges, media, and optional OTP detection
- Media sessions — now-playing metadata and playback controls when media is active
- Usage statistics — app usage frequency for “Frequently used” categorization (if Usage Access is granted)
- Local files — names and basic file info for search when you add folders in Settings (only those folders). Wallpaper photos you choose are saved inside Dextera (up to seven). Dextera does not need all-photos / all-videos access.
- Location (approximate or fine, if granted) — to fetch weather and related astronomical day info
- Network traffic counters — aggregate upload/download rates for optional fullscreen network-speed display (not a content log of your traffic)
- Launcher preferences — wallpaper, theme, clock style, fonts, page order, gesture options, search settings
- Security lists — locked apps, hidden apps, pinned apps/contacts (stored with enhanced protection where implemented)
- Search history (optional) — recent search selections you make when “Previous search results” is enabled
- Biometrics / device credential — used via the Android system authenticator to unlock locked apps; Dextera does not receive your fingerprint/face templates
3.2 Information sent over the network (only when a feature needs it)
Dextera may contact third-party services when you use related features:

Those third parties have their own privacy policies. Dextera does not control how they retain or use request data.
3.3 Information we do not intentionally collect as a cloud product
As of this policy, Dextera is not designed to:
- Create Dextera user profiles on our servers
- Sync your contacts, SMS, notification contents, or locked-app lists to a Dextera backend
- Sell your personal information
- Show third-party ads based on a Dextera advertising profile
If a future version introduces cloud accounts or telemetry, this policy will be updated before or when those features ship.
4. How information is used
We use the information above solely to:
- Provide home-screen, search, notifications, media, weather, and page features
- Personalize appearance (theme colors from wallpaper, layout preferences)
- Enforce app lock (when launching from Dextera) and uninstall-protection features you enable
- Improve reliability of optional suggestions (web suggest, Bing wallpaper cache)
- Remember settings you choose on the device
5. Legal bases (where applicable)
If laws such as the GDPR apply to you, processing is typically based on:
- Contract / service delivery — providing the launcher features you install and use
- Consent — optional permissions (contacts, location, notifications, etc.)
- Legitimate interests — local security features and on-device performance, balanced against your rights
You can withdraw optional permissions in Android Settings at any time (some features will stop working).
6. Storage, security, and retention
- Storage: Preferences and indexes are stored on your device. Sensitive launcher lists (e.g. locked/hidden/pinned packages) may use encrypted storage on-device.
- Retention: Data remains until you clear app data, uninstall Dextera, or revoke permissions / delete related content on the device.
- Security: Device admin and biometric app lock (when launching from Dextera) are optional protections. No method is 100% secure; physical access and OS vulnerabilities can still pose risks.
- Backups: Android backup systems (if enabled on your device) may include app data according to your OS backup settings.
7. Sharing of information
Dextera shares data only as needed to operate features you use:
- On your device — with Android system services (package manager, notification service, biometrics, media sessions).
- Third-party network services — wallpaper, weather, and web suggestion/search providers as described above.
- When you act — e.g. opening another app, sharing, uninstalling, or dialing a contact uses system intents to those apps/services.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your contacts, SMS, or notification contents with advertisers.
8. Children’s privacy
Dextera is a general-purpose launcher and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a Dextera cloud service. If you believe a child has provided sensitive data through optional features, clear app data or uninstall the App and contact us.
9. Your choices and rights
You can:
- Deny or revoke permissions in Android Settings → Apps → Dextera → Permissions
- Disable notification access, usage access, or device admin in system settings
- Turn off optional features (verification codes / OTP, search history, Bing wallpaper, network speed, etc.) in Dextera Settings
- Clear app storage or uninstall Dextera to remove on-device app data
- Choose a different web search engine or avoid web suggestions by not using search
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Because most processing is on-device, exercising these rights often means managing permissions and app data on the phone. For requests related to any data that may have reached third-party services (e.g. weather or suggest providers), you may also need to contact those providers.
10. International processing
Network features may contact servers in other countries (for example, weather or search suggestion providers). By using those features, you understand that request data may be processed outside your country, subject to those providers’ policies and applicable law.
11. Device admin and sensitive permissions
Some powerful permissions require special explanation:

Dextera does not use Accessibility services.
OTP / verification codes use the notification listener only (text already shown in messaging-app notifications). Dextera does not read the SMS inbox.
These are optional unless a feature requires them. Disabling them limits related features only.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Last updated date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected in the App, on our public documentation site, and/or in-app policy text. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy, to the extent permitted by law.

14. Proprietary software
Dextera Launcher is proprietary software developed and owned by Dextera Labs LLC. It is not open source. The app’s source code is not publicly available for inspection, modification, or redistribution. This policy describes product behavior in plain language for users and store review.
Public materials such as this Privacy Policy and the Dextera Wiki are documentation only; they do not grant rights to the app’s source code.
